Impedance Meter

Specificatii tehnice

  • Measurement of sound absorption coefficient, reflection factor and wall impedance with vertical sound incidence to EN ISO 10534-2, method with transmission function (2 microphone method)
  • Enhanced measurement of material characteristics, porous absorber: characteristic acoustic impedance and absorber wave number (propagation constant) of the porous material using the 2 chamber method
  • Quick, broadband determination of the characteristics within the frequency range from approx. 25-Hz – 5,000 Hz
  • Due to the adjustability of the rear sound-reflecting end in the sample holder,  different installation conditions of 0 to 40 cm air void behind the material sample are possible

EN ISO 10534-2

Impedance Meter is designed for determination of the sound absorption coefficient of materials and the impedance in impedance tubes.

The system has following properties

  • Measurement of sound absorption coefficient, reflection factor and wall impedance with vertical sound incidence to EN ISO 10534-2, method with transmission function (2 microphone method)
  • Enhanced measurement of material characteristics, porous absorber: characteristic acoustic impedance and absorber wave number (propagation constant) of the porous material using the 2 chamber method

System Hardware Description

  • Measuring system consisting of two impedance tubes with square cross-sections, large tube 15 x 15 cm (measuring frequency range approx. 25 Hz – 1,000 Hz), small tube 3 x 3 cm (measuring frequency) range approx.. 400 Hz – 5,000 Hz)
  • Main channels made of float glass with 4 microphone holders each of different measurement distances
  • Sample holder made of aluminium plates with adjustable rear wall; samples can be installed from the front; small tube can also be installed from above
  • 2 channel output amplifier, loudspeaker securely mounted using flange connections
  • Two 1/4’’ ICP measuring microphones
  • AD/DA converter with ICP microphone supply connection to PC via USB interface

System Software Description

  • Convenient measurement taking via intuitively designed graphic user interface with schematic diagrams of the impedance tubes, instructions in the text window and graphic displays of the current microphone positions guide the user through the measurement
  • Recording of accompanying additional data; with regard to subsequent documentation, provides all relevant information at a glance
  • Graphic analysis of the measurement data with comprehensive editing options
  • Smoothing function with different filter widths from 2 octaves to 1/12 octave
  • Export in CSV format for further editing e.g. in Excel and in MATLAB format
  • Export with FFT resolution or as standardised octave, third-octave, 1/6 octave or 1/12 octave values
